Christians: What is anointing oil used for?
I haven't been to church in a long time so I really don't remember.
Symbolic, there is not power in the oil, just like there is no power in the water of baptism. The power is in God and the symbolism is a show of respect for what was done.
Lu 7:38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
