ok in the 2008 elections it sort of goes without saying that democrats will run on the platform that the war in Iraq is bad and it never should have been ect.
Ok, BUT with Bush's ratings being so low, I'm wondering what will
Republican's run on? If they say they support Bush, I don't think they have much of a chance. So what do you think Republicans will run on?

The Republicans will run on two platforms:

1. The economy is still strong.
2. Don't let the terrorists get us.

The Democrats should counteract with:

1. The economy is strong because we are borrowing against our future to pay for today. The trade deficit is at all time highs. The natioanl debt is at an all time high. Government spending is rampant due to pork passed by a Republican held Congress. The biggest tax breaks are being given to the richest portion of the population. The middle class is being squeezed by taxes and poor wages to try and keep the economy going. Social programs are being neglected by a Republican Congress too tied up in a never ending war.
2. The war on terror can be fought through intelligence and diplomacy, not by invading countries and having wars on multiple fronts. If the 500+ billion dollars spent on the war in Iraq were instead spent on amping up intelligence and covert operations and diplomacy, then we would not be looked upon as empiralists as we are now. We should not give up our freedoms we enjoy as Americans out of fear. The terrorists are more afraid of our prosperity and resiliency rather our military might.

I hope the Democrats can get it together before 2008. The notion that Americans will vote for them because they are not Republicans will not work. They need to develop an agenda and stick with it. No mud slinging politics (by either side). They also need for their leaders, i.e. Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, to step to the fore front and become more involved in the elections by becoming more in tuned with the American public.
