Being a SQL Server DBA?
I know it will be a long journey to be a SQL Server DBA..but..I tried learning programming and found it daunting.I learned about sql a bit and found it relatively easier to grasp and work with it..Any tips as to where to start with it and are there jobs available for Microsoft's SQL Server DBA.Its future ??.or sql server knowledge with some reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or Cognos?

A really good book is "SQL Cookbook" by O'Reilly Press. I'm a software engineer forced to write stored procedures because the DBAs where I work were too busy, and that book was a huge boost. Start writing stored procedures for fun (SQL Server Express is free) and get into the hard stuff like recursive CTEs and windowing functions.
Microsoft has some books on managing a server.
Once you learn this stuff, you could get a Microsoft certification (there are training books for each certificate). Then get a job.
Yes, there are jobs, they pay well, in fact too much from my experience with DBAs (pompous pricks who enjoy telling you they'll get to it when they get to it).
