Dark Magick
Is making a vinegar jar spell working on the dark side of magick?
A man has been in my life for ten years and caused enormous amounts of harm to me ranging from emotional to causing me to lose everything I had, my home, a baby etc I always offered the olive branch, made peace and he just kept on doing bad things even though I tried to ask him to stop nicely. he accepts no blame or responsibility.
I wish to do a vinegar jar as I would like justice and for him to feel some of the effects he has done to me - to teach some humility to him, make him more mindful of how he treats others etc. Is this working on the dark side?
It's crossing work, which some consider "darker" - however what goes around comes around (the very heart of karma), so if it's justified many workers will not have a problem with doing it.
A really amazing sorcerer, Inominandum, had one of the most lucid explanations of the source of the "rebound" effect that so many Wiccan-type magic workers talk about. Basically, when you are doing a particular kind of work - whether it be crossing or beneficient - you end up surrounding yourself with the energies that you are calling down for someone else. So when you're doing money work for someone, you also tend to see some money come in - because the money-drawing energy is present and rubs off on you too. Same with crossing work. So your main practical concern when doing crossing work is to cleanse yourself and your energy afterwards so that you do NOT experience any of the negative effects yourself. Cause-and-effect, so know how to deal with it!
If you do decide to do crossing work, make sure to do personal cleansings after each day that you work it. Taking a hyssop bath while reciting Psalm 51, and then disposing of the used water at a crossroads would be a traditional way to do that. You would also want to set up some protection for yourself and your immediate surroundings (home, any people/animals that live with you in it). Using a candle dressed with Fiery Wall of Protection oil and petitioning St. Michael would be good for this.
If you end up not wanting to do a vinegar jar, you can at least do a mirror-box type spell on him. This does not force any negativity in his direction from you, but simply reflects all the negativity and trouble that he creates back on himself. These types of reversing works are very effective, and can leave the more tender-hearted or nervous practitioners feeling more confident that they themselves are not causing harm. The person causes harm to themself through their own action - the harm stops when they stop causing it! It's very poetic.
Oh, and I don't particularly recommend calling on any demons or spirits of any kind that you aren't VERY familiar with. They often expect payment for working for you, and if you don't have the ability to call them up and negotiate a price, you leave yourself open to them taking what price they wish from you without you having any input in the matter. Stick to working with your own power combined with the natural powers of herbs, oils, etc - until you are experienced enough to do more.
